CAREERS / A HAPPY PROFESSIONAL IS A CREATIVE ONE

Brilliant people attract brilliant people.

We have hired and grown engineers, designers and strategists in Hong Kong since 2014. The principle has not changed: a happy professional is a creative, productive, efficient one — so we build the conditions for that, then get out of the way. Five-day weeks, real ownership, and a tenth of every week reserved for learning.

A WORKING SESSION · NOT POSED

An afternoon in the studio.

Three engineers, a shared laptop, an open notebook. No glass-walled meeting room, no whiteboard with the word ‘synergy’. The studio is a small room, and most of the work happens around a single table.

CHAPTER01WHY HERE

Three things we believe about working here.

i

Creativity, growth and learning, side by side

Our team is built around people who give each other room to improve. We take the work seriously and we still have fun doing it — because that is how the good work actually gets made.

ii

A five-day week, on purpose

We work five days a week, with a working environment built to be conducive rather than crowded. Work-life balance is not a perk here; it is how the studio is run, year after year.

iii

The 10 / 90 rule

Ten percent of every working week belongs to you — for a new skill, a sharper version of an old one, a side study that becomes useful next year. Ninety percent goes to the work. The split is real and it is honoured.

CHAPTER02OPEN ROLES

The roles we keep an eye out for.

CHAPTER03HOW WE HIRE

How to apply, in three things.

We ask the same three things of every applicant. The first one is unusual — we keep it because, in two minutes, it tells us more than a CV does in two pages.

Send everything to join@accordhk.com. A real person reads it, and a real person replies. If we see a fit, we’ll arrange a conversation — in our Hong Kong office, by default.

No take-home homework. No five-engineer panel. We’d rather sit across the table and talk about something you have actually built.

i

A 2-minute video cover letter

Three reasons you want to join us. Phone camera, your face, your voice. No production value required — we are listening for clarity, not polish.

Required
ii

A résumé, PDF or Word

One file. What you have built, what you used to build it, who you built it with. No template required.

Required
iii

Links to the work

App Store, Play Store, GitHub, a public site, a case study — anything that shows the role you played and the result it had. One link is fine if it is the right one.

CHAPTER04LIFE HERE

What working here actually feels like.

i

A conducive workspace

Ample resources, ample materials, ample guidance from the team. The room is set up so the work can happen — not the other way around.

ii

Five-day week

Five working days. The other two are yours. We measure ourselves on a calm working week, not on a hero culture of long hours.

iii

The 10 / 90 rule

A tenth of every working week belongs to you — for a new skill, a sharper version of an old one, a side study that becomes useful next year. Ninety percent goes to the work.

iv

MPF + private medical

MPF as standard, plus a private medical plan with dental included. Family add-on available at-cost.

v

Joint-venture support

Bring a creative IT idea that fits the studio and we’ll help you build it — with studio time, and where it makes sense, funding from our backers. You stay on the cap table.

vi

Room for individuality

The team values individuality — your unique angle is what we hired you for. Smart, intuitive, open-minded; how you work is your own.

vii

Serious work, real fun

We take the work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously. A Friday demo, the occasional drink, a studio that genuinely enjoys each other’s company.

viii

A team that stays

Most of the team has been here for years. People grow here, and those who eventually leave often come back later — sometimes as clients.

/ / NO OPEN ROLE FITS?

Write to us anyway.

Some of the best people on this team arrived through a cold email rather than an open posting. If you think you’d fit the studio — tell us what you’re great at, and which of our clients or projects you would have wanted to work on. A real person reads every one.
